Line Officers

Line officers lead every incident — fire, EMS, and everything in between. The Chief is elected annually by the active membership and leads the entire department. The Chief, with the Assistant Chiefs, appoints the captains, lieutenants, and specialist officers.

Chief

Jon Faugh

Elected by the membership. Holds overall command authority for all department operations — fire suppression, EMS, and fire police alike. The Chief leads the entire department; every line officer serves under this command.

1st Assistant Chief & Training Officer

Dan Kwiecien

Assumes command in the Chief's absence, and serves co-equally as Training Officer — coordinating member training at the Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility and the Livingston County Emergency Operations and Training facility, and pairing newer members with mentors.

2nd Assistant Chief

Andrew Socola Sr.

Assumes command when the Chief and 1st Assistant Chief are both unavailable. Participates with the Chief in appointing and evaluating line officers.

The captains, lieutenants, and specialist officers below are selected by the Chief and Assistant Chiefs. EMS and Fire Police are not separate chains of command — every officer serves under the Chief.

Captain & Safety Officer

James McNeil

Commands the fireground in the absence of a chief officer, and holds the Safety Officer designation — authority to halt unsafe operations at any incident.

Captain & EMS Director of Operations

Zachary DuBois

Commands the fireground in the absence of a chief officer, and directs all EMS operations — Ambulance 589, EMT readiness, and protocol. Both titles are co-equal; one person holds both roles.

Dale Sweet

Leads crews on the fireground in the absence of a Captain or chief officer. Supervises operations and supports incident command.

Commands fire police operations — scene perimeter, traffic control, and road closures at all incidents. Appointed by the Chief.

Members train at the Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility and the Livingston County Emergency Operations and Training facility. Newer members learn alongside experienced mentors from within the department.
