FAQ

What can I help with?

We are always looking for help with all positions.

  • Interior firefighters
  • Exterior firefighters
  • Emergency medical technicians
  • Support staff
What would I be doing?

You would be helping out the Town of Rush (and Monroe County) by responding to emergency calls for service.

Do you provide training?

Even if you have never been apart of an emergency service agency before, you can still join! We will pay for all the appropriate training to get you ready to respond to emergencies. We utilities Monroe and Livingston Counties for their public safety training facilities.

We also have weekly training/drills on Monday night.

How long does it take to respond to calls?

It entirely depends on your availability. There is a lot of training that needs to be completed prior to any member going to incidents. This training can be completed in as quick as three months but if your availability is limited, it can be as long as 8 months.

What incidents does the Rush Fire Department respond to?

We respond to several different requests for service. A few are listed below.

  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Structure fires
  • Brush fires
  • Emergency medical
  • Utility hazards (wires down, odor of gas, etc)
  • Search/missing persons
  • Water problems (basement flooding, etc).

We also get called mutual-aid to our neighboring agencies when they have a large incident.
